Program Description
Duration
Students of the Molecular Life Sciences program are expected to submit their thesis within three to four years.
Thesis committee
The group leader will act as the project supervisor. In addition, a thesis committee, consisting of the supervisor, at least one program member, and an external advisor, will evaluate the progress of the work (3 or 4 times during the research period), advise, and support the student during the research period.
Financial support
Research groups within the Molecular Life Sciences Ph.D. program provide financial support in accordance with the Ph.D. student salary used by the Swiss National Science Foundation (from January 2009 about CHF 39'600.- in the 1st year; 42'600.- in the 2nd year; 45'600.- in the 3rd and 4th year).
Retreat
An annual retreat sponsored by the program allows the students to present their work by means of posters and oral communications and to exchange knowledge.
